A comprehensive eye test is an all-around health check of the visual system. The importance of having this test been done at least every 2 years cannot be stressed enough!!.

It is vital for the early detection and treatment of many eye disorders (for example glaucoma, cataracts, strabismus). A full eye test could also detect the presence of many systemic disorders (diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, neurological problems and some forms of tumours).

Using the latest technology and our expertise, our optometrists will guide you through the process of this 10-point test:

Discussion of history and symptoms: so that a clear picture can be obtained guiding the optometrist in the right direction.
Vision tests: to assess your vision abilities with the present glasses, the prescription of which will also be checked to assess for any changes.
Colour Vision test: screens for colour vision defects.
Refraction test
Eye movement tests: these will test how well your 12 eye muscles are functioning, if and how well your two eyes are working together giving you 3D (stereoscopic) vision. Also it will diagnose the presence of strabismus. For more info see orthoptics.
Pupil reflexes test: a quick test which can detect neurological defects, syndromes or defects within the visual system
Ophthalmoscopy: checks the health inside the eye. Can detect cataracts, diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, haemorrhages along with other eye problems.
Slit-lamp examination: tests the health of the outer and anterior eye. Can detect dry eye, infections like conjunctivitis, uveitis etc.
Intra ocular pressure test: tests the eye’s internal pressure, very important especially if glaucoma is suspected.
Visual field screening: an examination of the visual field of each eye. This is an important aid to the diagnosis of several disorders as different disorders affect our fields in different but often characteristic patterns.
