Nakis Theocharides Managing Director, Founder, Optometrist
Having studied in Umist, Manchester Mr. Theocharides returned to Cyprus in 1972 to be the first in Cyprus with a BSc in Optometry. With the endless ambition and limitless energy that characterises him to date, together with a genuine love for his profession, he started building the company which today employs 30 people and has around 60 thousand files on record, almost a 10% market hold in the island. He is still the driving force of his companies and has not lost sight of his vision over the years: to provide professional, dignified care in his field, thus returning something back to the profession which made him what he is today.
Maria TheocharidesOptometrist, Orthoptist
Maria studied Orthoptics at the University of Liverpool as well as Optometry and Visual science at City University, London. Orthoptic training involved many hospital placements where she saw many varied aspects of binocular vision anomalies and eye pathology. Having completed her optometric degree in 1999, she stayed in London where she did her practical experience which resulted in an award by the Institute of Optometry and a prestigious award for the best thesis of all optometric universities. She then worked full time and as a locum in central London gaining valuable experience in the field of comprehensive eye tests. She returned to Cyprus in May 2004 where she established a good co-operation with local ophtalmologists. She has two lovely children.Special interests include contact lens fitting, children and binocular vision anomalies as well as laser correction.
Being more technical in nature, Vasia started her career in optics with a course on spectacle lenses and their correct dispensing. She then went to gain a BSc Honours degree from Umist, Manchester in 2003 and has worked in London full time for more than a year.
She has currently taken the role of clinical manager of our Galileo practice. Special interests include lens types and dispensing.
Irene Louka has now returned from UK, having completed her optometry course in Aston University. She has taken over the Limassol practice in the tourist area. The first Limassol practice in Makarios sheet was opened by Andreas Louka in 1976 and is still in high force on Makarios Avenue

After finishing her studies, Irene joined our company for her pre-registration training in 1993 and has stayed with us ever since. She likes contact lens fitting but is very eager to expand her existing knowledge in all optometric subjects.

In 1976, our first practice of Limassol opened with his help. Since then he is the coordinator and the person fully in charge of the Limassol Branches
